A day after a decisive 4-1 loss to Normandy in the CVCA tournament first round, Orange rebounded in a big way, winning the rematch 6-3 and with it, the tournament championship. Jackson Fellinger’s hat-trick set the tone and Danny Moore’s 46 saves shut the door and put the championship game on ice.
For the third game in a row, the Lions overcame a deficit in the second period en route to victory. Jason Kornbuth opened the scoring late in the first period. Normandy responded in the first minute of the second. The final 6:58 of the period saw five goals scored between the teams. Normandy at 6:58, Orange at 6:06, Orange at 1:03, Normandy at :16, and Orange at :07.
Orange opened the third period with a 4-3 lead and never looked back, as Fellinger scored early in the period and capped off the hat-trick in the last three minutes to close out the scoring.
