A thrilling match between Orange and Beachwood took place this Thursday. The Lions were able to get an early lead after senior midfielder and captain, Carson Munn, was able to get on the end of a bouncing ball in the box. Munn was able to loft the ball over the keepers head and into the back of the net. The Lions had a few more close chances, but would conclude the half with a 1 – 0 lead. Looking to extend the lead, Orange continued to push to start the second half. Their increased pressure on the Beachwood back line led to a penalty kick after Carson Munn was taken down in the box. Freshman midfielder, Jake Tartaglia, stepped up to the spot and calmly slotted it passed the keeper, increasing the Lions lead to 2. Even though they were down, Beachwood continued to fight to stay in the game. They were able to rally together and tie the game up at 2 with about 10 minutes left on the clock. The Lions didn’t want to let this one slip away though. They continued to press to find a game winner. With about 6 minutes left on the clock, it appeared as though they had done so, when Munn curled a shot around the goalie and hit the crossbar deflecting the ball straight down, however, the linesman ruled it no goal. With a little over 2 minutes left in the game, Orange took a quick throw in and targeted the middle of the box. After a few deflections and bounces, the ball had trickled into the 6 yard box. Sophomore midfielder, Cade Horvat, reacted to the bouncing ball and laced it into the top of the net, giving Orange a 3 – 2 advantage. The Lions would close the game out and keep the lead. Orange advances to 7-3-3 on the season and continue their unbeaten streak of 7, winning the last 5. The Lions also celebrated their seniors during this game. They are as follows: Hunter Kasparian, Ahmed Abouelsoud, Neil Jain, Carson Munn, Leo Abramson, and Andy Saks.
