The Lions were back in action on Saturday hosting Chagrin Falls for the Sectional Final and a chance to advance to the District Semis. The first half was back and forth with each side having a few half chances, but nothing looking too dangerous. After 40 minutes of play, Chagrin Falls appeared to have more run of play and possession. About halfway into the second half, Chagrin Falls was able to take the lead on a through ball which found the left winger in stride and he was able to find the back of the net. For the remainder of the half, Orange pushed to find an equalizer, but kept coming up short. Just when it appeared as though the game would finish 1-0, the Lions were awarded a free kick just outside the box. With 14 seconds left on the clock, sophomore midfielder, Jake Tartaglia, was able to bury his shot into the side netting, bringing the game to a tie and sending it into overtime. Two 15 minute overtime periods were played. Chagrin Falls was almost able to find the winner in the final seconds of the second overtime, but the ball deflected off the crossbar. After 120 minutes of play the score remained 1-1 and would be decided by a PK shootout. Senior captain and GK, Adam Rosenthal, would give the Lions a huge confidence boost after saving the first Chagrin PK attempt. Calm and composed, the Lions were able to step up bury their first four attempts. Cade Horvat, Jake Tartaglia, Matt Sigel, and Adam Rosenthal each were successful in their PK attempts. Senior captain and forward, Omer Sarig, was the fifth PK taker for the Lions. A successful PK from him would result in a victory for the Lions. Sarig approached the ball with confidence and struck it cleanly into the back of the net. The Lions advance to the District Semifinal and will take on CVCA at their place at 7PM on Tuesday, October 22nd.
