University School’s senior laden team is no stranger to big matches. That experience was on full display Tuesday when the largest crowd in Northeast Ohio high school tennis this season saw the Preppers use early aggressiveness to jump out to a big lead on all five courts against the young Lions.
As the match progressed the Lions clawed back into contention winning at #1 singles (Sophomore Ben Pomeranets) and #1 doubles (Senior Josh Nwaozuzu and Freshman Chika Nwaozuzu) and nearly flipping the match at #2 singles where Sophomore Krish Mehra’s comeback attempt came up just short in a tight 7-5 second set.
With the win University School has proved once again that it is the dominant team in Northeast Ohio boys tennis. Orange will reset its sights on a CVC title and a looming regional semi-final showdown with Hawken in the state team tournament.
