For the fourth straight game, the Lions overcame a deficit in the second period or later, and earned the 5-4 win over Solon in a back-and-forth match-up. Senior captain Zach McCarren opened the scoring with a powerplay goal early in the first, but Solon answered back with two goals of their own to take a lead into the locker room.
Orange trailed 2-1, 3-2, and 4-3, before launching a furious two-goal comeback in the final six minutes of regulation. Senior captain Jason Kornbluth tied the game at four with 5:39 left in the third, and McCarren’s goal at the 1:50 mark, his fourth of the game, cemented the Orange win. Senior Captain goalie Danny Moore was a brick wall in the third, stopping 12 of 13 Solon shots, including a multi-shot barrage in the final minute as Solon skated with a six-on-five man advantage.
Orange has won five in a row and is now 6-1 on the season overall. The Lions return to the ice a week from today vs. Solon at Gilmore Ice Arena.
