It was a crazy night for CVC basketball between the Orange and Perry girls basketball teams, which was as to be expected from the two top teams in the conference. Perry did a great job in the first quarter out scoring us 15-10; the Lady Lions did a great job of being able to respond, securing the rest of the quarters in the game. Kudos to Perry for being a well composed team, never giving up keeping us on our toes. Jessica Hudson-Turpin did a great job tonight for us, switching off tonight between face guarding two of Perry’s outside threats Infalvi and Hacking. Hudson-Turpin shot 80% from the free throw line (4-5), finishing with 6 points and 2 steals. Junior Kaydan Lawson finished the game with a double double with 26 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 blocks, and 2 assists. Despite managing to fight through the flu, senior guard Casey Smith finished the game with 16 points and 4 steals. Junior guard Mahogany Sanford did a great job tonight forcing two offensive fouls against Perry and finishing the game with 13 points and 3 steals. It took a team to be able to beat a great Perry team, and everyone came to step up to the plate tonight.
