The Lions took their 11 game win streak to the pond tonight for a league game vs arch rival Chagrin Falls. The Tigers are last in the GCHSHL White East Division but always play the Lions tough. Tonight the Lions and Tigers both looked like they had been off of skates for a few weeks. Stellar play by CF goalie Ben Winovich and the Lions Danny Moore kept the game close. First period goals from T Bookman for CF and Justin Beachler held up until early in the 3rd when Pablo Garcia buried a rebound off of a Scott Hill shot to give the Lions the lead. To their credit the somewhat chippy and scrappy Tigers fought to keep it a one goal game and with their net empty Teddy Aerni tied the game with 37 secs remaining the in regulation time.
The regulation score ended at 2-2. After a few moments for the refs to understand how the rules of OT are applied the puck was dropped again, a minute and 12 seconds later, Scott Hill would be left all alone on the lower left side of the Tigers net. His quick little snap shot to the top of the net popped the water bottle off as if it were its own fireworks celebration for the jubilant Lions. Win streak is now at 12 games, 6-0 and in GCHSHL White East and in first place. The Lions travel to Strongsville next weekend for non league tournament play, however they return to The Pond on Saturday January 20th at 6:40pm for Senior Night against Canfield… Come celebrate the great careers of Jake, Zach, Jackie, Pablo, Mark, Scott and Max with them and their families
