Aurora High School Runs Away With Early Lead In Victory
Orange Lions Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-5 loss to Aurora High school on Wednesday. Aurora High school scored on a fielder’s choice by Bizjak in the second inning, a double by Blue in the second inning, and a double by Fromwiller in the second inning.
The Orange Lions Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Aurora High school, giving up 11 runs.
Aurora High school pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning. In the second Mason Shein induced Bizjak to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Blue doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs, and Fromwiller doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Orange Lions Varsity put up four runs in the fifth inning. Nick Garofoli, Max Leikin, John Achkar, and Ty Van De Motter each had RBIs in the big inning.
Sapp earned the victory on the mound for Aurora High school. He surrendered five runs on five hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four. #15 and Coady entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Shein took the loss for Orange Lions Varsity. He allowed five hits and six runs over one and one-third innings, striking out three.
Jack Newman led Orange Lions Varsity with two hits in two at bats.
Aurora High school collected 11 hits on the day. Carpenter, Fromwiller, and Blue each managed multiple hits for Aurora High school. Carpenter went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Aurora High school in hits.
