Lions News · OHS Girls Basketball Advances to OHSAA Northeast District Tournament, Break School Win Record

The Lions came out on top of a back and forth battle with Cleveland Central Catholic last night here at Orange High School.  Orange finished strong enough during regular season play, that the Lions were able to obtain a bye for the first round of sectionals.  6th seed Cleveland Central Catholic defeated 11th seed St. Martin de Porres on February 17th to advance to the Sectional Finals against Orange.

Not only will this mark the first time Orange has advanced to the Final Four of the Nordonia District, the Lions now hold an all time win record at Orange with 15.  The Lions now stand at 15-6, which bests the record of the 2004-2005 and 2002-2003 girls basketball teams (both shining with 14-6 records).

For the game, the Lions were led by Kayden Lawson with a double-double at 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Casey Smith with 19 points and 7 rebounds.  Best of luck to our Lions as they face off against St. Vincent- St Mary on Monday with a 7:45 start at Nordonia High School.
