Girls JV Tennis Team’s Match Summaries

Catching up a few of the matches JV played…

On August 17th the girls won their match against West G, 5-0 . Sophie Suh, Vicki Popritkin both won their matches in straight sets and only allowed West G 1 game in both matches. West G forfeited the 3rd singles. The Doubles teams of Rachel Dubyak and Kate Tzefronis won their match in a 3rd set tiebreak where they prevailed at 10-8. Good fight girls! And Adi Breitman and Sophie Caplan logged Adi’s first win with a 6-3,6-1 victory. Great win for the two beginner tennis players! Way to go Lions!

The next early season match found the girls traveling to Shaker Heights where they fell to a strong Shaker team 2-3. Sophie Suh and Vickie Popritkin lost their very tight singles matches. And the rookie freshman Katie Brateanu won her hard fought match in a 3rd set. Way to go Katie playing that 3rd full set and pulling it out!. The doubles teams of the two Rachel’s – Dubyak and Glukh won their match in straight sets and the other doubles of Katie Warren and Rachel Blum  also pulled out a straight set victory. Way to go Orange Dubs!! Exhibition doubles matches were played by Senna Dweik and Jordan Dubyak, and Kate Tzefronis and Sophie Caplan. Great playing girls! Go Lions!

Last Friday(August 26th) found the girls at home playing the varsity B team from Lebron’s Alma mater Saint Vincent Saint Mary. Orange JV girls were in the process of closing out the match for a 3-2 win when the rains came and the match had to be called for weather. The singles matches were completed, where Rachel Pomeranets fell to her opponent and Anna Brateanu and Sophie Suh won their singles matches. The doubles teams of Rachel Dubyak and Quinn Davis lost their doubles match and Katie Brateneau and Vicki Poptrikin won their first set and were on their way to a win in the second when the rains came. We know you were going to pull it out girls, great effort! Go Lions!!

Yesterday(August 29) the JV girls traveled to Beachwood to win all 5 courts  and their exhibition matches.  The singles players of Rachel Pomeranets, Sophie Suh, and Rachel Glukh all won their matches in straight sets allowing their opponents no more than  9 games between all 3 matches!  The doubles team of the sisters Brateneau – Anna and Katie closed out their match in fine fashion with a straight set win allowing their opponents only 2 games. And the doubles team of  Lauren Hill and Vrunda Patel won their tight match in a match breaker at 8-10. Great playing team! Exhibition matches were also played by Martha Pristash and Jordan Dubyak winning in straight sets. Chandler Carran’s and Sophie Caplan’s opponents had to retire so they logged a win.  And Cydney Granger and Senna Dweik had a tough match where they did not prevail.  Go Lions for another nice win over Beachwood!!!
